Is this the medical you need?

AMSA runs two schemes. This site books one of them.

  • The STCW medical under Marine Order 76, on AMSA forms 232 and 303. This is the one this site books.
  • Not the near coastal medical. Marlu Health provides that too: ring us rather than requesting it here.
  • Not an ENG1 or an OGUK medical. AMSA does not accept those in its place.
  • Unsure which your role needs? Ask your employer or training provider first.
  • What the medical covers

What it costs.

Every fee on this site is the total payable, including GST. There is nothing to add. The GST component is shown beneath each price for anyone who needs it for an expense claim or a business activity statement.

Bring four things.

Paperwork, not health, is the most common reason an appointment cannot go ahead. Arrive without these and it may be refused, with no refund.

  1. Original current passport or Australian driver licenceNot an overseas licence, not a photo or a copy.
  2. Both forms completedThe consent and release form, and Part A of AMSA form 232.
  3. Glasses, contact lenses or a hearing aid you use, and your medication listWith spare batteries for the aid.
  4. Your last Certificate of Medical Fitness, if you have oneEven if it has expired. A first medical has none, and that is expected.
  5. Everything to do before you come

After your medical.

AMSA form 303 gives the medical inspector three declarations: fit, fit with restrictions, or unfit. You leave with the certificate on the day, recording whichever was reached. No outcome can be promised in advance.

Request an appointment.

Nothing on this site holds an appointment. Tell us the clinic, day and time that suit you, and a member of the clinic team rings to agree a real one.

There is no option to book for a friend or family member: each seafarer completes their own questionnaire and consent.
